Job Responsibilities

Key Interface Internal-External:
Product Marketing, Electronic, Testing, IP, Quality, Prototype Model Shop, Suppliers.

Design of components, sub-assemblies or new product concepts that involves new technologies or unique combinations of existing technologies. Application includes potentially all the product categories;

The Innovation Mechanical Engineer:
-Researches and carries out complex innovative engineering assignments requiring the design, development and integration of new technologies, products or processes across all the product categories;
-Develops prototypes through agile approaches and contribute to MVP (Minimum Viable Products) finalization;
-Assists with pilot or proof of concept projects to evaluate the benefit and feasibility of the solution for broader deployment;
-Investigates new / emerging technologies, innovations and opportunities, increase company knowledge and gather Insights;
-Conducts feasibility analysis that will include also the integration of the subsystem and manufacturability of the proposed configurations;
-Participates to the definition of specific tests in order to approve components / systems for use and act to drive a right first time solution taking into account performance cost & other key programme metrics;
-Ideates Patentable concepts in line with Innovation Strategy;
-Keeps up to date with the latest technological developments, through attendance at trade shows, talking to universities etc. and attending internal and external training where appropriate;
-Assists in the handover of developed concept to NPD team. Attend appropriate NPD stage gate meetings. Provide support to Research and Development (R&D) function where required.

Main Responsibilities:
-Supporting project leader in interpreting and translating the preliminary design specification into product design proposals and ultimately a finished design, at or below target cost;
-Creating and validate new Technical development of Product components & systems, taking care of its design and development (technical specification, functionality, reliability, manufacturability, safety, …);
-Identifying issues & risks to enable early mitigation;
-Operating CAD (Computer Aided Design) and other software as applicable;
-Organising and/or participating in design reviews;
-Applying material tests and managing simulations;
-Supporting labs in module test specification and system test plan to validate. Understand technical tests results to take decision on design
(Molds building only for senior positions);
-Building inter departmental working relationships;
-Liaisoning with internal and external suppliers.

Job Profile

Qualifications, Knowledge:
-BEng / BSc Qualified;
-Experienced in the design of mechanical components & systems;
-Knowledge of 3D design tool (CATIA V5/SIEMENS NX);
-Knowledge of simulation tools (MOLDFLOW, FEM ANALYSIS);
-Knowledge of mass production product development;
-Good knowledge of laboratory equipment and test results evaluation.
